The Welsh Badminton Union was formed in January 1928 and was one of the founder members of the International Badminton Federation (now Badminton World Federation) July 1934along with the other Home Nations,

The Welsh Badminton Union has produced Two Olympians (1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympic Games) in Kelly Morgan and Richard Vaughan whom between them have won two Commonwealth Medals and two European Medals for Wales. Both players were ranked British No1 badminton players for a decade.
