Last week I finished my alevel exams. I am now able to train properly again and summer training has begun. Congratulations to Richard Vaughan who has been appointed as the CEO of badminton Ireland, it will be sad to see him go though as he has been my personal coach since I was 13 but he will have a continued input in to career.

A lot of single games today as I wish,and played with other good players like Gareth,Vikki as well.therefore pratice comprehensive skills.prefer this kind of training but still worry about the training quality when Mr.Idol switch to Ireland badminton association.Hope not too bad.

tournaments have ended for the season until approximately end of august. My training lately has concentrated more on physical fitness rather than on court session, due to exams over the past two months and a lot of revision has been required. Throughout the summer i will be training very hard both on court and physically to prepare for next season.

During this month I haven't had any chance to do any training apart from going to club when I haven't had an exam the next day. But now my exams have finished I am looking to do a bit more training. However I'm hardly going to be here! I'm looking very much to the next couple of weeks. Next week I'm off to the Isle of Wight to Umpire at the Natwest Island Games. Then a few days after that, I'm off the Los Angeles to line judge at the US Open. So a few hectic weeks ahead of me yet! The Island Games will be interesting as the Earl of Wessex will be there. That means I'll have to change my opening announcement.

My tournaments are now finished for the season. It was a good season considering this time last year I had Glandular fever. This was definitely some disappointing results though. I am currently sitting my alevel exams so having a few weeks break, but as soon as they finish I will start a hard few months summer training which I can’t wait for :)

Felt a little bit tired when training therefore made more mistakes but still tried best to train hardly.the practice of proper footwork which made me feel faster but still need to be faster.In additon,just find another weaknessof myself,when someone's net shot is very close to the net,most of the time i just cant lift and the shuttle always block by the net.Liam told me that was because I am always using the power of my whole arm but not the sudden power with using my wrist.Therefore I hope I could try to pratice with using proper power hence make the shuttle faster.

last few weeks

Over the last couple of weeks my training has had to be set aside due to injury. I had injured the muscles in my ribs and it was affecting the nerves in my neck and arm, somehow! I have been more concentrated on my exams so the injury has come at the right time, but ive almost fully recovered so need to get back into shape for summer training!

After Richard came back from africa and train me again I can feel that the training obvious becoming heavier than before.and this is want I need as well.Due to my coming full-time job,monday and thursday are becoming my only chance to improve my badminton ability therefore hope every training could be efficiently.In addition,I can feel some specific skills becoming more comprehensive such as smash and net however still need to be faster and not make such kinds of mistakes.

Slovenia and Spain

Last week I played in the Slovenia Open. I was up against first seed Tvrdy, in the first game at 11 I was leading 11-4 she then retired. Next round I played Austrian Mayor, a physical game with 2 close sets I lost 23-21 and 21-16, I was disappointed I lost the first set as I had game point but I have taken lots away from the game to change for Spain and work on over the summer. Slovenian was also my first tournament with my new doubles partner Carissa Turner we reached the semi finals losing close to the ewinners. I am now in Madrid competing in the Spainsh open. Tomorrow I play Laura Vana from Estonian in qualification, I will update tomorrow :)

Botswana Olympic Solidarity - Badminton

This week I am in Lobatze, Botswana; directing an Olympic Solidarity badminton course for the Botswana National Olympic Committee. So far everything has gone very well and all the staff at the NOC and Badminton association has been very friendly.

I have been impressed with the level of the coaches; both technical and tactically. They also have a brand new badminton hall and multipurpose training facility which is very impressive. All built by China. Lots of Chinese people here, building everything.

The biggest issue for the players/coaches seems however to be the same as elsewhere; and that is getting enough court time as all the halls are very full and/or expensive.

I hope all the players are training hard, especially after returning home from the European Junior badminton Championships in Finland!!! J

This weekend Tsung Fong, Gean Sou, Blanca and Lara Lucas are playing the Olve international badminton tournament in Belgium – so I am waiting for positive results!
