The 2010 National Badminton League will be offering live streaming of all matches this season as the LA Strings, Pasedena Racquets and California Walnuts go off against each other in a three match tie competition taking place over Sunday 25th-Tuesday 27th July.

Some of the worlds top badminton players will be on display after the US badminton open. The matches will be taking place at these venues/times

The Live Sport Event website is  a new site which allows you to watch Badminton Live from across the Badminton Asia Confederation, Badminton Confederation of Africa, Badminton Pan Am,  Badminton Europe and Badminton Oceania events, all under the Flag of the Badminton World Federation.

At the end of the badminton season the men compete in the Thomas Cup and the women's battle it out in thier final compeition – the Uber Cup. The competitions happen once every two years, and 2010 is the next tournament year. The finals consist of 12 teams, which is cut down from 50 as players qualify and get dropped from the schedule. You'll also be able to catch the Sudirman Cup – the mixed team event that started in 1989.

Badminton has been an Olympic Sport since 1992, when it premiered at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. The top thirty two players in the world compete in the Olympic Competition, with three players from each country. In the BWF Championships, the format remains the same with 3 players submitted from each country. The RVBA’s Sarah Thomas was today confirmed as officially qualified for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. A great achievement for the seventeen year old, adding to her double national title success earlier in the year. This season Sarah has reached the highest rankings of 48 in mixed doubles, 60 in ladies doubles, and 107 in Ladies singles.

Sarah commented “It’s great to be selected for Wales; I have been waiting some time to hear confirmation so now I can concentrate on the hard training that needs to be done to be ready for Delhi. The only negative is that Rachel (Thomas) and I seemed to have missed out in the ladies doubles which is a pity as we must have been awfully close to selection.”

RVBA Head Coach Richard Vaughan "The Commonwealth Games will be a great learning experience for Sarah, and hopefully will give her the experience needed for events later in the year such as the European Junior Championships where she will hopefully be competing for a medal. I am sure India will do a great job with the Games, and as Badminton is a popular sport there it will be a terrific experience for all the team."

With just over 3 months until the start of the 19th Commonwealth Games, all eyes will be fixed on Delhi, who will play host to the Games between 3rd October – 14th October 2010.  The 19th Games will be the largest multisport event held in India's capital city. This year’s Games will be the 2nd time the event has been played in Asia, the last being Kuala Lumpa 1998. Welsh Badminton has had success in past games including Gold at the 1998 Games in Kuala Lumpa (Kelly Morgan) and Bonze in Manchester 2002 (Richard Vaughan).

Badminton will run throughout the games from 4th-14th October at Delhi’s Siri Fort Sports Complex alongside the Commonwealth Squash event.

Badminton England have confirmed the departure of performance director Ian Moss by mutual consent.

Moss took up the role in January 2009 as the organisation looked to act quickly after disappointing results at the Beijing Olympics.

He oversaw the appointment of former European champion Kenneth Jonassen as GB and England men's singles coach, the Dane starting in his role earlier this week, but he now leaves a void that Badminton England will look to fill rapidly, with the World Championships in Paris taking place next month ahead of October's Commonwealth Games.

Badminton England chief executive Adrian Christy said: "Everyone associated with our GB programme would like to thank Ian for his contribution to our world-class system and wish him every success for the future.

"I am fully focused on putting plans into place to replace Ian and hope to make a announcement within the next few days.

"My main concern is to deliver our world-class aspirations and I will not waiver in our endeavours, which include being best prepared for the World Badminton Championships in Paris next month, the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi in October, and the Olympic Games in London in 2012."

The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) are expected to discuss the benefits of retaining the Badminton World Federation (BWF) office, if the world governing body intends to shift its base to another country.

Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek however, said the ministry had not received any letter from BWF to indicate its intention to relocate its office that is currently based at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium in Cheras.

"We want to look at whether there are any positive aspects if the BWF office remained here or not," he told reporters here Friday.

The issue of a shift by BWF popped up after BAM were said to be unhappy because Malaysia was omitted from the list of hosts for the Premier Super Series badminton championships next year.

Ahmad Shabery said among considerations taken into account to retain the BWF office in the country was the benefits and advantage that Malaysia would derive, especially in terms of sponsorship and hosting exclusive tournaments...

Entries will be accepted if submitted through the Member Association of which the player/pair is a member, or on specific authorisation from the Member Association.

There has been no official announcement yet from the badminton governing body, but the 2011 page of its calendar has now been filled with the major events, including the Super Series and Premier Super Series. The Badminton Super Series Finals for 2010 will be played early 2011 in a place yet to be confirmed.

The travel plans can now be started again for 2011: the BWF has published its calendar for 2011, including the top 12 events - its Badminton Super Series circuit amongst which the 5 big tournaments. There will be little changes however in the set up of the year, with all Super Series going by pair except for the All England which now stands all alone between two Badminton Grand Prix Gold - German and Swiss, while the newly upgraded Indian Open is now set to be staged at the end of April, right after the Asian Badminton Championships
