Wales Badminton
The Welsh Badminton Open kicked off yesterday in Cardiff, with lots of high quality games. On friday the RVBA's Sarah Thomas the tournament 8th seed had a tough first round match against Top European u19 players Fabienne Deprez from Germany.

In a difficult mtach it was Deprez who came out on top 21-13, 21-13. The German demonstrating her added strength and attacking play.

Thomas commented "It was a disappointing match especially after winning Northumberland badminton open last weekend. I played well in parts but I could not keep in all together at important times in the game."

Also in action was Badminton Wales pair Rachel Thomas and Michael Lewis who were up against Canadian opposition Pang and Ko in the first round of the mixed doubles. The Welsh pair coming out on top 21-17, 21-19, a great win for the Badminton Wales pair.

RVBA's Richard Vaughan commented "The singles was one step too far after last weekends tournament, but hopefully it sets a good benchmark for Sarah in the future. Rachel and Michael had a great win in their mixed doubles.
