All England Badminton Championships
World 28 Richard Vaughan today lost in a tight three set match with Chinese no.2 and World silver medallist Bao Chunlai, speaking from the NIA in Birmingham, Richard commented
"I am very happy with performance in the first set, and parts of the second where I proved I can not only compete, but beat the worlds best, unfortunately the lack of matchplay took its toll in the match when he changed his tactics. Considering the current poor training set up in Wales currently its a great result. How do you compete at this level when you have no coach, or top quality players to play against, and not sufficient funding to get the places where you can access it. Next is the Swiss Super Series which will be equally as tough, so I have to start again Wednesday. Until then I will do my best to recover from this week.”
A tough match after beating World No14 Pang, in the previous round also in three games.
This is the 4th time Vaughan has gone out in the Last 16 stage of the All England Badminton Championships.
