Last night (Sunday) saw the launch of the new Hawthorn Badminton Ladder at the wonderfully green Hawthorn Leisure Centre with a demonstration match by Richard Vaughan (British & Welsh No.1, Double Olympian - Sydney & Athens and Bronze Medallist from the 2002 Commonwealth Games) and Zhu Min of the Chinese National Squad.

Don Griffiths, organiser of this the new Badminton Ladder commented 'I hope with the re-launch of the ladder, we can re-produce the success which it enjoyed previously, and hopefully help some of the very talented players in Wales go on to further success on the national and international stages, just like richard and kelly have done'

The original Hawthorn Badminton Ladder had the likes of Richard playing from the age of 9 and a similarly young age for Kelly Morgan, other top players who played in the ladder were Chris Davies, Geriant Lewis, Mark Richards, and Gail Davies.

Vaughan won the opening match of the ladder in division 1
