Hawthorms badminton ladder is to be revived. Organisers Don Griffiths and Simon Rowe both were members of the ladder along with  Britain's top 2 badminton players Kelly Morgan and Richard Vaughan who played in the ladder from the age of 12 until they reached national team level, since then the ladder had disbanded. At its peak there were some 120 players in the ladder with some 10 internationals taking part. Vaughan commented “The ladder was one of the central features along with Speedbird Badminton club, and Don (former coach) in my development as a young player. Its been a pity to see both the ladder and Speedbird club disappear in the last 10 years and its essential we get them up and running for the development of the sport.”

The ladder will be based at Hawthorn Leisure Centre, but players of all levels can arrange matches between themselves and play at any location. The ladder will be re-launched with an exhibition between British No1. Richard Vaughan and Chinese International Zhu Min at Hawthorn Leisure centre, October 2 nd at 7pm.
