The RVBA's Sarah Thomas won her third Welsh Badminton
National singles title this weekend at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff.
The eighteen year old had a walkover in the semi final where she was due to
play fellow RVBA player, sixteen year old Aimee Moran who was forced to retire
with illness.
That meant Sarah had a repeat of last year’s final against Carissa Turner.
Thomas won comfortably in two straight sets, claiming her third national
singles title.
RVBA head coach Richard Vaughan commented "It was a good win for Sarah,
comfortable in the end, but nationals is always a difficult tournament to win
under pressure and Sarah handled it all very well. Sarah can now look forward
to the European Badminton championships in Holland next week'".
