Richard Vaughan Badminton Academy look forward to the Senior National Badminton Championships

The Welsh National Badminton Championships Entry List has been published with players from the Richard Vaughan Badminton Academy supported by Memory Lanes Cakes challenging for three events.
In the Ladies Singles the RVBA's 17 year old Sarah Thomas is favourite to retain her title, fellow RVBA team mates Vikki Jones will also be looking to make an impact and badminton Wales u16 player Aimee Moran will also be looking to try and make a semi final.
In the Ladies Doubles Sarah Thomas and Rachel Thomas are top seeds with Vikki Jones teaming up with Nicole Walkley who will be looking to at the very least make a semi final.
Perhaps the strongest event of the tournament is the mixed doubles. World No 54 pairing of Sarah Thomas and Richard Vaughan are Top seeds and favourites, but they face strong competition from numerous opponents. One of whom is the RVBA's Vikki Jones, teaming up with Martyn Lewis.
RVBA Head coach Richard Vaughan commented "This years Welsh Badminton National Championships will be very interesting in numerous events, RVBA players will have an interest in the Ladies Singles, Ladies doubles, and Mixed doubles events, and I hope everyone can fulfil their potential. It will be great preparation for the three female players selected fro Badminton Wales to play the in the Women's European Team Badminton Championships the following week in Poland."
Ladies Singles Top Seed Sarah Thomas commented "It was really important for me to win my first Welsh Senior National title last year, and its equally important for me to defend the singles title, and try to take the Ladies doubles and Mixed doubles titles".
The event takes place in the new LC, Swansea on Saturday and Sunday the 6th and 7th February 2010.
Saturday the 6th February – Play to start at 9am and finish approximately 6pm.
Sunday the 7th February (semi finals and finals) - Play to start at 10am and finish approximately 4pm.
Entry for spectators is free of charge.
